Preparing for your Boudoir Shoot

THE DAY OF YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION

Come to the studio with a clean slate for your professional HMU artist/stylist. Please remove all make up from the night before! Moisturize and continue your normal lip balm and eye creme…. Wear as much loose fitting clothes as possible- avoiding wearing bra’s/undergarments that can cause indents in the skin that can show up up your photos

Eat a light breakfast/lunch and hydrate! Avoid heavy bloating foods , dairy products, and carbonating beverages.

THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION

Shave the night before if you’re not already waxing. Take your time and try your best avoid small cuts!

Avoid drinking alcohol…. Even one night before, it will wreck your skin and leave you feeling dried out- drink water instead and avoid the parties to get a full night sleep!

3-4 DAYS BEFORE YOUR SESSION

This is a great time for general “clean-up” around eye-brows, bikini line waxing, and the like…. Also, be sure that you set-asdie and clean your ring and jewelry accessories!

ONE WEEK PRIOR TO YOUR SESSION:

Start operation “Back to Baby Skin”… Pamper yourself and get in a solid skin-care routine for the entire week that avoids harsh chemicals that can dry out skin. Cut back on alcohol, avoid long sun exposure to avoid burns, and settle in on a solid sleep routine. If you’re an avid fitness enthusiasts, try not to over-do it to the point of soreness. During the boudoir session we will enter a verity of poses that could feel uncomfortable if you’re sore!

General Skin Preparations

  • Waxing: If you are planning to wax for your session, try to leave at least 3-5 days for you to heal before the session.

  • Shaving: Shaving can be done the night prior to the shoot, but try to avoid shaving several days prior to the session to keep your skin smooth and free of irritation and blemish.

  • Tanning: Spray tanning should be avoided within a week of the shoot, and avoid long hours sun exposure to avoid sunburns. Wearing sunscreen can help avoid this! Also- if spray tanning be sure to do so full-nude as to avoid any tan lines or un-even blotching .

  • I love tattoos - BUT make sure your tat has had plenty of time to heal and be free of redness before solidifying your date.

  • Avoiding alcohol is important week-of shoot and consuming plenty of water will give your skin a healthy glow.

Face

Use gentle cleansers, and skip the harsh chemicals and facials that could cause dry flaky skin… Get in the habit of using moisturizers and eye creams leading up to your shoot to have your skin looking hydrated and healthy.Make sure to regularly use lip balm . A gentle lip scrub can help remedy already dry lips, but you want to avoid dryness if at all possible. If you want to have your eyebrows waxed or threaded, schedule the appointment a few days before your boudoir session.

Hair

If you wish to dye your hair before the shoot be sure you build in at least a week of time… That way if you’re not happy - we still have time for correction. Have a general idea for hair styling in mind for day-of session… This is something we can discuss when we lay out pieces as well.

Hands

Clean you rings and other jewelry pieces at least week ahead of time in case your jewelry is backed-up. Nails- take some time to think about your nail color in relation to our outfit colors and styling. Neutral colors will work best with most outfits, but regardless and nice manicure will address any chips and flaws in your nails.
