What do you love most about yourself?

This, in some form, is a reoccurring question you will hear me ask throughout our session. “What do you love most about this outfit?” … “What do you love most about this pose?” “What is your favorite feature about yourself here?”…

Seek and You Shall Find…

To me, boudoir is so much more than an incredible photoshoot for yourself: it's an experience with a deeper underlying goal of helping to correct our mindset and the way that we speak to ourselves and find beauty in everything. Flaws and mistakes are easy to find, but why are we seeking such negative feelings about ourselves? That is the negativity that can spiral out of control and cause us to let all the beauty in the world be overshadowed by self-doubt and loathing… So during our shoot it si my goal to help reverse our mindset and continually seek to first find everything we love and talk about why we love it! And THIS is where the transformation begins. When you first seek beauty, that is exactly what you will find… When you first seek the flaws, that is exactly what you will find.

And Beyond the Physical …

After asking that question (because I do ask it to every client who comes through my door) I’ve also heard some other incredible responses…. But one that really stuck out to me was a one client in particular who gave me an answer I’ll never forget…

I asked “What do you love most about yourself"?” She replied, “I love that I’m here…”

I asked her to elaborate on that and come to find out she was an abusive relationship. Verbally she was beaten down daily, and told she wasn’t enough… And as I too a step back to digest more of her situation it made me fathom her resolve, the courage, and mental barriers she was breaking down to simply just show up- not for anyone else but herself. Needless to say her shoot was incredible. She celebrated herself not only by capturing the outward beauty, but also the inner strength of a warrior. You could see it clear as day through the photos. It was a boudoir shoot that we will both never forgot!

So Something to Think About…

You’re sitting at your computer, or reading this on your phone, mentally prepping to do a boudoir shoot… What do you love MOST about yourself? Write down 3-5 things and tell remind yourself on a daily basis. You will slowly notice the love you find first for yourself, will pour into other aspects of your daily life. You’ll find a routine to get rid of all the pent up hate, and self-distruction you’ve been letting build inside. And no one is perfect, so stop selling yourself the lie that you need to be in order to book a boudoir shoot… When you’re ready, we can talk. I will be here to help you find what you love about yourself.
